Volunteer Celebration

Calling all parent volunteers!!!
Please mark your calendar for May 17th.
We will be setting up a "Volunteer Appreciation Lounge" in the library.
It will be open throughout the school day. We will have student art on display, and each staff member will be setting out finger-food desserts for you to enjoy.
More specific information will be coming with the official invitations, but I hope you will mark this on your calendar. I really have appreciated all of your support this year!!

IMPORTANT NOTE

I am so sorry that we had to cancel conferences.  We are not making up that time.
If I feel it necessary, I will contact you for a morning or after school conference.
Please let me know if you feel the need to meet with me.
Please keep your child reading every night.  Reading a passage three times can really build fluency.
Writing for a purpose...grocery lists, letters, reminders, thank yous..etc, can improve writing skills.
I'd love to see all my students writing in a "Gratitude Journal!"  Just a couple sentences a night.....bring it in occasionally to show me!! I'd love it!!
MATH....problem solving...how much will two boxes of cookies for Mrs. Todd cost?? Ha Ha
Practice adding and subtracting with triple digits.
That special time reading with your child is a life-long memory for them!!

Meet Miss Glenn!!

Dear Families,
My name is Brittany Glenn and I am a student teacher from the University of Oregon. I will be working alongside Mrs. Todd for the next ten weeks. During this time I will be teaching approximately half a day for the first few weeks and full time for the following five weeks. I am looking forward to working with such an energetic and enthusiastic second grade class!!
I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself!! I grew up in Tacoma, Washington with my parents and younger sister. I decided to become a teacher when I was in elementary school and have been working to reach this goal ever since.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Educational Foundations with a minor in Special Education from the University of Oregon. I started the UOteach masters program immediately after finishing my undergraduate work in June 2011 and I expect to finish the program at the end of the summer.
I have decided to student teach in the Salem-Keizer School District because I believe the quality of education and the commitment to student success will guide and influence my future career.
I am excited to be a step closer to my dream and look forward to getting to know you and your student.

                                                                                          Thank you,
                                                                         Brittany Glenn
